The short version. AiRecite does not ask you to create an account, and it does not show ads or use analytics or tracking tools.
If you use the recitation feature, the app records your voice through the microphone and sends it to our server so your recitation can be checked against the Quran text. Reading the Quran without recitation checking does not use the microphone.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the AiRecite mobile app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles, why, and what choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we handle
Voice recordings (recitation mode only)
When you open a surah in recitation mode and start a session, the app asks for permission to use your microphone. While the session is running, the app captures your voice and streams it to our server in short audio segments. The server converts your speech to text and compares it with the Quran text to show you which words you recited correctly. The app does not record in the background, and it does not record when you are only reading.
Session information
To run a session, the app sends our server a randomly generated session identifier, the number of the surah you chose, and your current position in the text. This is not linked to your name or any account, because the app has none.
Technical information
Whenever your device connects to a server, that server receives standard network information such as your IP address, request time, and device type. This happens when the app contacts our server and when it downloads Quran fonts (see section 4).
Information stored on your device
The app saves your list of favourite surahs in the app’s local storage on your device. This list is not sent to us. You can clear it by clearing the app’s storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account details
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, files, or messages
- Advertising identifiers
2. How we use information
- To provide the recitation feature: transcribing your voice and giving you word-by-word feedback.
- To keep the service running, find and fix errors, and prevent misuse.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.
3. Permissions
| Permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Microphone | To hear your recitation in recitation mode. You can deny or withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings. Reading mode still works without it. |
| Internet | To download Quran fonts and to connect to our server for recitation checking. |
4. Who receives your information
We share information only with the services needed to run the app:
- Speech-to-text providers. To transcribe your recitation, our server passes your audio to third-party speech recognition services, including Deepgram (privacy policy) and Groq (privacy policy). They process the audio on our behalf and return text.
- Font hosts. The app downloads Quran page fonts from content delivery servers such as verses.quran.com and static-cdn.AiRecite.ai. These servers can see your IP address when you download a font, as with any website or file download.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
5. How long we keep information
Audio is used only to give you feedback during your session. We do not use recordings to identify you, and we do not keep them to build user profiles. Server logs that contain technical information such as IP addresses are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information handled by the app, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The app is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the recitation feature and you want related information removed, contact us and we will help.
8. Your choices and rights
- Microphone. Turn off the microphone permission at any time in your device settings. You can still read the Quran in the app.
- Local data. Clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app to remove your favourite surahs from your device.
- Questions or requests. Because the app has no accounts, we can’t easily tell which data belongs to you. If you want to ask about, access, or request deletion of information related to your use of the app, email us with the approximate date and time of use and we will do what we reasonably can.
9. Links and third-party services
The app may link to or rely on services run by others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
11. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or how the app handles information, contact us at support@AiRecite.app.
